Rest and Craft
At Kyuukei Coffee, we believe in the power of a pause. Inspired by the Japanese word “Kyuukei,” meaning “rest,” our cafés in Singapore’s historic Chinatown and Alexandra neighborhoods offer a haven for relaxation and connection. Founded by Jonathan Teo, a former marketer turned coffee enthusiast with over five years of brewing expertise, Kyuukei is more than a café—it’s a community space where quality coffee and heartfelt moments intertwine.
Jonathan’s journey began with a simple desire: to create a space where people could escape the hustle and savor life’s small joys. Guided by our Honourary Chairman, Fishball Teo—an American Curl cat whose love for naps embodies our ethos—Kyuukei brings this vision to life. From our pet-friendly Maxwell café, nestled in the vibrant KADA building, to our cozy Alexandra outpost in Bukit Merah’s storied heart, we craft every cup with care, sourcing specialty beans from dedicated farmers and roasting them to highlight their unique flavors.
Beyond our cafés, Kyuukei extends restful experiences through our online shop, offering curated coffee blends, merchandise, and gift cards, as well as our mobile coffee cart for events. Whether you’re sipping a latte, sharing a toastie with friends, or brewing our beans at home, we invite you to join our community and find your moment of calm. Take a break with Kyuukei—where every cup tells a story of rest, craft, and connection.
